Normandy Park School Volunteer & Visitor Code of Conduct

Normandy Park School is committed to providing a safe and orderly school environment where students may receive quality educational services without disruption or interference. Responsible behavior by volunteers and visitors is essential to achieving this goal. At a minimum, all volunteers and visitors are required to comply with the following guidelines.

All volunteers and visitors agree to:

v Sign in at the main office immediately upon entering the building.

v Wear appropriate identification name tag at all times while on school premises.

v Maintain the confidentiality of all students and staff members, including but not limited to student work, photographs/video taken, and conversations on school property.

v Follow all school and classroom rules and policies.

v Share concerns about student welfare only with teachers and school staff.

v Treat every student and staff member with respect ñ be courteous in speech and actions.

v Be patient and respectful of each studentís abilities v Dress appropriately for a classroom setting.

v Use only designated adult bathrooms.

All volunteers and visitors agree NOT to:

v Approach or be alone with students unless directed by a teacher or staff member.

v Discipline a student. All disciplinary action should be taken by school staff according to the Normandy Park School Code of Conduct.

v Use or give out personal information about students, staff or other Normandy Park School community members. v Use inappropriate or offensive language.

v Use volunteer time to have individual teacher conferences about students.

v Use cell phones while in the school building. The principal has the right and the duty to deny a volunteer or visitor access to the building as a result of noncompliance with the Code of Conduct. Questions about this Code of Conduct should be directed to the school principal.
